LIFE SKETCH OF FRANCIS WEBSTER, JR
Francis "Frank" Webster was born to Francis and Ann Elizabeth Parsons Webster in Cedar City the 7th of April 1858. His father, Francis, and mother, Betsy, were members of the Martin Handcart Company. While at a Platte River crossing, their first child was born. Just two days after arriving in Salt Lake City, the small family moved to Cedar City. Frank was the second of ten children. He farmed and raised sheep with his father.

When the call came to members of the Cedar City Ward to settle San Juan, Frank was among those "Cedar City boys" who went with the company and helped blaze the trail. It appears that he returned to Cedar immediately after Bluff was established as he had returned to Cedar in time to be included in the 1880 census there. It is not apparent that he ever married.

On December 19, 1903, the following appeared in the Cedar City newspaper: "Samuel T. Leigh. George D. Perry, and Francis Webster Jr., have received letters from "Box B." recently. Letters from this famous box always stir up feelings of concern in the breast of their recipients. These three gentlemen are good men, but if we were out shooting preachers we would not point a gun at either [any] of them." It is not known if the letter contained a mission call. However, the same newspaper lists Frank as a member of the county jury pool on April 23, 1904.

Following his father's death, Francis developed a "splendid arid farm" west of Cedar City. He died following a three week stay in Provo at the Utah State Hospital 30 July 1920, and was buried in the Cedar City Cemetery.
